My name is Jonathan Long and I am the owner of 820South3rd.com. When not running a photo booth in my front yard, I am an Associate Teaching Professor of Photography in the School of Film & Photography at Montana State University. Now in my 11th year at MSU (Fall 2018), I teach an Introduction to Digital Photography (1,200+ students since first offering the class) and other various photography classes.
When I first moved to South 3rd in 2010, one of the first things a neighbor asked me when settling in to my new home was “Have you heard about Halloween?” This was in August. After those first few years of having 800+ trick-or-treaters, I came up with the idea of setting up a photo booth.
With the help of Doc Cravens (2017), a good friend, photographer and recent graduate of MSU’s Photography program, we gave it a try. People were very excited and we knew we had to keep it going.
